Amanda leads the community based parent education and early childhood learning programs at the Parenting Cottage including supervision of the parent education team. A South Plains native, Amanda was Valedictorian of her high school class at Whiteface before graduating magna cum laude from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development and Family Studies. Amanda earned her Master’s Degree from the University of North Texas in Educational Psychology and Human Development completing her Capstone Research project on Parenting Styles-Effects on Social-Emotional Child Development. Prior to joining the Parenting Cottage, Amanda served as a youth and adult career counselor with South Plains Community Action Association in both Levelland and Lubbock. Amanda also has as experience as a teaching assistant with Texas Tech University’s Early Headstart and served a case management internship with Family Promise of Lubbock.
Since 2002, the Parenting Cottage has been a proud Lubbock Area United Way partner agency and providing services to address a broad range of community needs including advocating for children and working to both increase awareness of and prevent child abuse.
